Puroba, a forthcoming Georgian restaurant in Madrid, is the brainchild of Marina, an immigrant from Georgia. Marina, the owner, has been living in Madrid for over ten years. Her mission is to spread awareness about the beauty of her homeland and its exquisite cuisine among the people of Spain. Unfortunately, not many are acquainted with Georgia's rich cultural heritage. Marina is determined to showcase the country's wealth and instill a sense of pride in Georgia's heritage.
Approach. Outcome
When Marina approached me, she was uncertain about naming her restaurant, considering generic options. However, I aimed for a name that would carry a deeper meaning and connect with the restaurant's design and concept. After thorough research, I suggested the name "Puroba." This name represents a cherished Georgian tradition known as "Puroba-Feast," which encompasses a vibrant tapestry of culinary delights, convivial toasting, and spirited socializing. It showcases the opulence of Georgian gastronomy, accompanied by harmonious melodies and the vivacious clinking of glasses. The Georgian word is also easy to pronounce in Spanish. For the logo, I drew inspiration from the captivating aesthetics of Spanish signs, imbuing it with a strong sense of character. The brand colors draw from the vibrancy of tiles, creating an engaging visual identity. Selecting the visual elements proved challenging due to the richness of Georgian culture. While exploring options such as intricate ornaments and ancient art, I ultimately chose four traditional Georgian vessels closely tied to the theme of food. These vessels symbolize the inseparable components of a Georgian feast, known as "Puroba." By employing a naive drawing style and leaving some aspects less transparent, I aimed to maintain an air of intrigue, sparking visitors' curiosity to search online and discover the authentic appearance of these elements and dishes.
